<comment>We visited Koishi on a Friday evening with two friends who were first timers to Japanese food. When we arrived at 7.00pm we were the first guests and the restaurant was quite quiet (no music). The pleasant waitress brought us a complimentary bowl of steaming edame beans with homemade pickle while we decided what to order.

We ordered sushi and sashimi a few items at a time so we could gauge what our friends could and couldn't eat. As one of the friends is coeliac the waitress advised what could and couldn't be eaten and was able to provide her with gluten-free soy sauce.

The quality of the tuna and salmon sashimi was particularly good, The octopus was a bit watery - possibly from previously being frozen. The nigiri sushi, maki and hoso maki rolls were all pretty good and nicely presented.

Washed down with green tea, which was discretely replaced when the pots were empty, we had a pleasant evening. As the restaurant filled up with a few noisy tables the atmosphere improved.

To eat your fill you will leave a bit of a dent on your credit card if you are very hungry when you go - good sushi is never cheap in Ireland. However, this is good sushi and, as such, is good value for money.

A final word about the two kimono-clad Japanese waitresses who were very helpful, professional and friendly.</comment>

<comment>Went here last night with the other half and some of her work colleagues.
The food was excellent as was the service. The only thing that let it down was the extreme heat in the building. We had to open a window to get a breath of air.
The Set Menus are excellent value and could probably feed two despite the fact that they are just for one.
I would recommend the sushi platter and the beef teriyaki was excellent. Dessert was a green tea tiramasu which was really good.
Will definitely be back to try some of the other sushi options.

<comment>I think this restaurant serves the best sushi in town. I went with my boyfriend and got a mixed platter of Sushi which offered a good selection when you find choosing sushi confusing - which I do! The staff are all very friendly and smiley. Th only thing is the atmosphere is slightly lacking and mayb a little bit cold. But the food is so good you can get over that - also love the japanese beer that they serve. Last time I went they gave 10% off the next visit and I will definately be returning to use it!!</comment>

<comment>I had the pleassue of attending Koishi for dinner with my husband and a few friends

The food quality was top notch and the sevice was quick and attentive.

Our only disappointment was that there was a large party of 10 in the resturant and becuase the dining area is so small it put a damper on the evening for we were strainning to hear each other at time.

After reading some of the other comments, I was expecting the sushi to be on the pricing side but I did not find that, I personally found that the hot dishes were a bit expensive e.g. 16.50 for beef ramen soup. I will definately go back but will avoid the hot main courses. </comment>
